Luis Robledo Estaire is a professor of Aesthetics and Philosophy of Music and History of Music at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música in Madrid. He has published various studies and editions of music from the period of the Spanish Habsburgs, as well as studies on musical emblems and the influence of music on Spanish humanist thought and ecclesiastical rhetoric. He is currently working on a systematic study of musical images and references in Spanish books of emblems, and is conducting research on musical activity related to confraternities in seventeenth-century Madrid.
