José Riello,who holds a doctorate from Madrid’s Universidad Complutense, has been involved in several research projects, some related to Spanish and foreign artistic literature of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, on which he has published Sacar de la sombra lumbre. La teoría de la pintura en el Siglo de Oro, 1560–1724 (2012). He has collaborated with the department of publications of the Museo del Prado and currently lectures at the department of History and Art Theory of the Universidad Autónoma in Madrid, and is editor of its yearbook. He belongs to the advisory committee of Descubrir el Arte and to the editorial board of Archivo Español de Arte. He has curated the exhibition La biblioteca del Greco (Madrid, 2014) together with Javier Docampo.
