Giuseppe Mazzocchi (†) was a professor at the University of Pavia (Italy) and a corresponding member of the Real Academia Española. He studied Spanish literature of the 15th‒17th and the 20th centuries from a primarily philological (textual criticism) and cultural historical perspective. His favourite fields of research were chansonniers, spiritual Golden Age literature, literary relations between Spain and Italy and early book history. He published critical editions and Italian translations of Spanish texts and his corpus of original scientific studies encompasses some 200 titles, including editions, articles and reviews.
