Begoña Lolo Herranz, who holds a PhD in Art History, is full professor of the History of Music at the Universidad Autónoma in Madrid. She has been editor-in-chief of the Revista de Musicología, vice-president of the Sociedad Española de Musicología, and director of its publications. Prominent among her studies are La música en la Real Capilla de Madrid. José de Torres y Martínez Bravo (h. 1670-1738) (1990), Catálogo de Música del Archivo General de Palacio Real (1993), and Días de Gloria y muerte. Misas de José de Torres en honor del rey Luis I (2000). She was awarded the National History Prize in 2000.
