Kinoshita Akira
Kinoshita Akira was a professor of Art History at the Showa Women’s University in Tokyo until 2022 and is currently a Specially Appointed Professor there. He earned a degree in Art History and Spanish at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and completed his postgraduate studies at Waseda University. He became specialised in Spanish art during his doctorate courses at the Geography and History faculty of the Universidad de Complutense in Madrid thanks to a Spanish government grant. As a specialist in modern and contemporary Spanish art, he has collaborated on the exhibition Goya: Artist of his Time and Unique Artist (1999), was co-organiser and co-curator of Masterpieces from the Museo del Prado (2002, 2006) and scientific curator of Antonio López García (2013), as well as curator of Barcelona: The City of Artistic Miracles (2019), all held in different Japanese museums.
