Gordenker, Emilie
Emilie Gordenker holds a PhD in History of Art from New York University. She is director of the Mauritshuis since 2008. Previously, she worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Frick Collection in New York, and was senior curator of Early Netherlandish, Dutch, and Flemish Art at the National Gallery of Scotland. She is the author of Anthony van Dyck (1599–1641) and the Representation of Dress in Seventeenth-century Portraiture (2001). Dr Gordenker has also curated the exhibitions The Paintings of Adam Elsheimer (1578–1610): Devil in the Detail (Edinburgh, 2004) and Rembrandt? The Case of Saul and David (The Hague, 2015).
