Luis Miguel Enciso Recio is a full member of the Real Academia de la Historia. He has also been professor of Modern History at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, president of the Sociedad Estatal de Conmemoraciones Culturales (2002–2004), deputy director of the summer school at El Escorial (1989–92), dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts at the University of Valladolid (1968–72), and deputy rector of that university. He has received the commander’s plaque of the Order of Alfonso X the Wise, the medal for Constitutional Merit, the Order of Academic Palms, and the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit.
