Josefina Castilla Soto is full professor of the department of Modern History at UNED. Her research is centered on seventeenth-century Spain, particularly the reigns of Philip IV and Charles II, on which she has published studies including Don Juan José de Austria (hijo bastardo de Felipe IV): su labor política y militar (1992) and, together with J. Rodríguez García, Diccionario de términos de Historia de España. Edad Moderna (2005).
