Esther Borrego Gutiérrez is a tenured lecturer in Spanish Literature at the Complutense University in Madrid, where she earned her PhD with a thesis on Spanish Golden Age theatre. She has published more than a dozen books and monographs and several critical editions of autos sacramentales and Golden Age plays. She directed the international conference “Y tan alta vida espero.” Santa Teresa o la llama permanente. De 1515 a 2015 (2015) and is in charge of a project to recover conventual literature in Spain.
