New Enriqueta Harris Frankfort Curatorial Assistant at the Wallace Collection
The Wallace Collection and the CEEH are delighted to announce the appointment of the new Enriqueta Harris Frankfort Curatorial Fellow. Akemi Luisa Herráez Vossbrink recently obtained her doctoral degree from the University of Cambridge. Her doctoral thesis focused on Spanish seventeenth-century artist Francisco de Zurbarán and his reception in Latin America. From 2020 to 2021, she was the Meadows Museum Center for Spain in America (CSA) Curatorial Fellow. At the Meadows Museum she actively participated in the acquisition process of several Spanish drawings and curated her own exhibition. Just before this appointment, from 2018 to 2020, she was nominated the Centro de Estudios Europa Hispánica (CEEH) Spanish Painting Curatorial Fellow at the National Gallery, London, where she worked with the Spanish paintings in the permanent collection and was the curatorial assistant for the Sorolla: Spanish Master of Light and Bartolomé Bermejo: Master of the Spanish Renaissance, both of them held in 2019.
She holds a degree in Art History from Cambridge University and research for her master’s degree at Edinburgh University focused on cross-border encounters in Spanish Orientalism and Islamic art. In addition to working at the National Gallery, London, she was a graduate intern at the J. Paul Getty Museum’s Paintings Curatorial Department. Akemi is especially looking forward to researching paintings at the Wallace Collection with a special focus on temporary exhibitions and symposia relating to Spanish art throughout her appointment.
