Imaged and Imagined. Spain Seen through Prints from Japanese Collections opens in Nagasaki
The National Museum of Western Art (NMWA), Tokyo, and the Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum (NPAM) present an exhibition on the role played by prints played in the formation and distribution of images of Spain, its culture, and art from the early 17th- through the mid-20th century. The show, which features more than 240 works from Japanese collections, is mainly curated by Yusuke Kawase (NMWA), who is also responsible for the catalogue, an extensively illustrated volume that will soon be available in English thanks to the sponsorship of CEEH and AC/E.
The exhibition will be on view in Nagasaki until 11 June 2023. From 3 July to 4 September 2023 it will travel to Tokyo, second venue of the show.
