Appointment of the inaugural curatorial assistant at the National Gallery, London
Akemi Herráez Vossbrink’s CEEH National Gallery Curatorial Fellowship focuses on Spanish painting spanning from the fifteenth to the twentieth century. She is currently helping prepare an exhibition on Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida (1863-1923) which will open in March 2019. This will be the first retrospective exhibition on this artist in the UK since 1908. She has been mainly working on the display, labels and catalogue. She is also updating the information on the permanent Spanish painting collection. She is particularly interested in the National Gallery’s Zurbaráns, especially the new Juan de Zurbarán still-life.
