First Sculptor of Renaissance Spain has been honoured with the Eleanor Tufts Book Award 2020, which was also granted to Sorolla in America: Friends and Patrons in 2017. The committee has appreciated its contribution to the understanding of the artist and the rippling effects of the Italian Renaissance in sixteenth-century Iberia, emphasizing the study of Berruguete’s connection to Italian art and to the Castilian artistic tradition.
