La Grande Chapelle at the Auditorio Nacional
The concert commemorating the 4th centenary of the death of Pedro Téllez-Girón, 3rd Duke of Osuna, organised by the CNDM in coproduction with the CEEH and the Fundación Tatiana, is scheduled for 7.30 pm on Thursday 7 November as part of the Baroque Universe series.
Directed by Albert Recasens, La Grande Chapelle presents the music that was performed at the festivities organised by Osuna in 1620 to celebrate Philip III’s recovery from an illness. The festa a ballo was composed by the duke’s chapel musicians, headed by the chapel master Giovanni Maria Trabaci and the organist Francesco Lambardi. Ranging from music in Latin to instrumental music and including the different profane genres in vogue as well as dances, this concert will immerse the audience in one of the artistically most fruitful periods of the Spanish viceroyalty in Naples. It also provides an opportunity, in the centenary year of the ‘Grande Osuna’, to survey the role he played on the music scene in the Spanish Monarchy.
