González Santos, Javier
Javier González Santos teaches art history at the University of Oviedo, where he earned his PhD. He is also a tenured researcher at the Instituto Universitario Feijoo de Estudios del Siglo XVIII. He specialises in Spanish art of the Modern Age, particularly Goya and the Spanish Enlightenment. He has published the critical and annotated edition of Jovellanos’s Diario (1746–1811) in three volumes (1994, 1999 and 2011) and is the author of Jovellanos, aficionado y coleccionista (1994), which examines Jovallanos’s relationship with Goya and the fine arts. He organised the exhibition Jovellanos y su entorno en el Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias (2011) and was also editor of the catalogue, and contributed together with other specialists to the Catálogo de las colecciones del Museo de la Iglesia de Oviedo (2009).
