Quintín Aldea Vaquero (1920–2012), who earned doctorates in Ecclesiastical History from the Gregorian University in Rome and in Geography and History from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, was professor of Research at CSIC, as well as a full member and permanent librarian of the Real Academia de la Historia. He focused his research on Spanish ecclesiastical history and international relations. His works include the Diccionario de historia eclesiástica de España (1972–1987), of which he was editor-in-chief together with T. Marín Martínez and J. Vives Gatell.
