The CEEH sponsors the catalogue of Ribera. Ténèbres et lumière
Paris is hosting the first French retrospective on the work of Ribera, an exhibition curated by Annick Lemoine and Maïté Metz at the Petit Palais. The show, which runs until 23 February 2025, features more than a hundred pieces that are key to understanding the painter’s career. Ribera emerges as one of the most fascinating practitioners of naturalism and stands out among the painters who followed in Caravaggio’s footsteps for his astonishing ability to capture the dignity of humble people and recreate the materiality of flesh and objects. The CEEH, which was previously involved in publishing the catalogues of other exhibitions on the artist organised by the Museo del Prado and the Dulwich Picture Gallery, is sponsoring Ribera. Ténèbres et lumière, where a dozen international experts offer an up-to-date view of the Valencian artist’s work and career.
