Calvo Serraller, Francisco
Francisco Calvo Serraller, professor of Art History at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid and a member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, was director of the Museo del Prado from 1993 to 1994. He is responsible for art criticism for El País and has curated many exhibitions, among them El bodegón español. De Zurbarán a Picasso (Bilbao, 1999–2000), Picasso: tradición y vanguardia (Madrid, 2005), and Spanish Painting from El Greco to Picasso. Truth, Time and History (New York, 2006). He is the author of a critical edition of Los diálogos de la pintura de Vicente Carducho 1633 (1979) and many studies on artistic literature and Spanish art of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
