Javier Gimeno Pascual is a delegate in Spain and a member of the executive committee of the Fédération Internationale de la Médaille d’Art (FIDEM). The holder of a PhD in Geography and History with a versatile background, he focused on classical archaeological themes at the CSIC’s Centro de Estudios Históricos before orienting his research towards coins and, in particular, medals. He has collaborated with the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) and the Museo Arqueológico Nacional on courses and exhibitions. He has directed the Museo de la Casa de la Moneda and prominent among his works is the catalogue La medalla modernista (2001), published by the MNAC. He is a coordinator of the magazine Médailles and a member of the editorial staff of the magazine puntoycoma, which is devoted to aspects of translation.
